Award-winning interior designer, Nicole Fuller unveils STELLA, her latest luxury bed with Savoir. Based in New York and Los Angeles, her style seamlessly layers classic and modern pieces to create truly timeless interiors. With prestigious clients around the world, Nicole brings glamour to every project, creating spaces that are both purposeful and luxurious.
Nicole was able to see her bed being handcrafted by the skilled Savoir artisans during her visit to the London Bedworks earlier this year. We also talked to Nicole about the source of inspiration for the STELLA bed and her intuitive sense of luxury style.
How would you describe your style
My style is best known for seamlessly layering vintage and contemporary pieces with bespoke finishes, custom furniture design and timeless interiors. Each project and design is unique, as I have a thirst for new challenges and the desire to push the boundaries. I am continually intrigued with the ever-changing world of design as well as extremely dedicated to creating highly customised interiors for all of my clients.
“Savoir is the ultimate in what they do and we are aligned in our dedication to high quality luxury design.”
Tell us about your colour palette?
My colour palette truly depends on the project and the setting at hand. I embrace colour with excitement and confidence as it can define a space with character and personality. My personal go to colour is Oxblood. I am constantly enticed by the dramatic and powerful, yet grounding feelings it provokes within me.
Do you have a favourite fabric?
My latest obsession is with mohair and soft boucles. Texture is central to my design, whether I am using all neutrals or layering colours. It visually encapsulates the balance of elegance and warmth in a space.
“I think the combination of defined lines with the texture of the mohair is a really alluring marriage of design elements that are in perfect balance.”
How important is the bed when you are designing a bedroom?
The bed is the focal point. It is where we start and the rest of the room is designed around it. It’s sacred and personal, it is your sanctuary where you go to rest, meditate, rejuvenate, and make yourself whole again. It is where you spend a good portion of your time at home. You may not sit on the sofa or at your dining table every day, but you are always in your bed.
What was your design inspiration for the bed?
STELLA is inspired by one of my favourite American artists of all time, Frank Stella. His work utilises the formal properties of shape, colour and composition, with a focus on abstract geometric patterns.
Why did you choose the Teddy Mohair fabric?
It is pure luxury. I wanted to select something for the bed that was soft and romantic and incredibly sexy and inviting. I think the combination of the defined lines with the texture of the mohair is a really alluring marriage of design elements that are in perfect balance.
What was the most exciting part of the collaboration?
Being in the Bedworks in London with the artisans who handcraft these incredible beds on a daily basis was inspiring. Their skill and passion for what they do blew me away and really gives new meaning to handmade, bespoke quality products. It is what sets Savoir far apart from the others.
Why collaborate with Savoir?
I only partner with brands that I use myself and whose design aesthetic and quality matches my personal taste and standards. Savoir is the ultimate in what they do and we are aligned in our dedication to high quality luxury design.”
The STELLA is currently on display in our Uptown New York showroom and in Harrods London.
